Back in the day, Highway 21 took you from Dublin north or south. Now we call it San Ramon Road (to the north) or Foothill Blvd. (to the south). Dublin and San Ramon Village (a residential and commercial development on the right) in 1961.

Highway 50 in Dublin canyon used to be a 3 lane road. I remember when it was just a 4 lane highway with grade crossings til the year 1966. Then it became freeway 580/50 and intersected with 680.

We used to call three lane roads “suicide highways.” Dublin has a long history of being the place where vehicle accidents (wagon, stage coach, motorcycle, car, bus and truck) happened. Thankfully, the roads are much better now than they used to be.
